Mountain Playhouse to hold fundraiser at Green Gables

Despite financial problems, the Mountain Playhouse will hold its 71st play season this year.
The board of directors will face the theater's financial problems head-on with a series of fundraisers, which are set to commence Friday evening with an event celebrating playwright William Shakespeare's birthday.

Playhouse plans student workshops

The Mountain Playhouse and Green Gables Restaurant in Jennerstown are venturing into education with two workshops scheduled to take place in mid-August.
The Mountain Playhouse Theater Workshop will introduce students to all aspects of professional theater. Students will act, sing and dance. They will also learn about set design and construction, properties, costuming, lighting and sound. The workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 12, 14, 16, 17 and 19. The workshop is open to all students age 8 and older.

Nothing says Country-Chic wedding more than a rustic barn wedding but in Western Pennsylvania restaurants might have the edge. Having a wedding in a barn immediately gives your wedding a country theme but can require more decorations than a reasonable budget may allow. Restaurants can cut back on the need for decor and of course catering. One of my favorite restaurant wedding-venues in the Laurel Highlands is Green Gables restaurant.
