Green Gables First Friday Wine Tasting
Green Gables Restaurant News Release
Join Sommelière Mary Maust from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 5 as she pours wines from Australia - a region where the approach to winemaking and viticulture is like no other. The vast and varied topography from down under makes it possible for many varietals to be cultivated. Though the Shiraz grape is Australia's most familiar varietal, the tasting will go beyond Shiraz to sample other, less marketed varietals from this region. A Riesling from the Clare Valley, a Pinot Gris from Victoria, a Pinot Noir from New South Wales, a Grenache from Langhorne Creek, South Australia, and a Cabernet Sauvignon from the Barossa Valley, South Australia will be poured. The tasting is $15 per person and includes light hors d'oeuvres. Green Gables Restaurant is located in Jennerstown (about an hour from Pittsburgh) next door to the Mountain Playhouse where the Gershwin musical Crazy for You is playing through August 7. For details call 814-629-9201 or go to GreenGablesRestaurant.com.
